Family-Centered Policy
I believe in democracy and the public process. I believe we make better decisions when we involve everyday citizens and make decisions that include their feedback. I believe government exists to support the well-being of it’s citizens in the least invasive way possible. This includes safety, education, public utilities, commerce, transportation, and health.
I will use a family-centered, life-span lens to evaluate policy. This means I will deeply consider how individuals and families are impacted and will prioritize their well-being over big business and partisan politics.
Where I Stand
-
I believe in properly funded schools where all levels of employees receive a reasonable wage, including para-educators and support staff. I do not support vouchers or changing the tax earmark for education.
-
I believe housing access should be supported directly to consumers and not through large developers. I support grant programs to improve access to first time home buyers. I support laws that allow each city to determine where they can include higher density housing.
-
I want to support everyday families through lowered tax burdens on lower- and middle-income families; access to healthcare including mental health and reproductive health; and access to outdoor spaces, clean air and water.
